Hi Everyone,

I am also a member of SACanada, but we are moving to the UK in the mean time as Canada is taking too long for us. Edinburgh is our choice of home (sow we are hoping to settle there), and we plan to land maybe during June/July. I am married and in my 30's.

We have submitted our HSMP application 20 February 2008. They say they will respond within 5 weeks. We are sitting on the edge of our seats. We can not wait to make the move, as I have been to the UK (London) before. I was there during 1997/98 on my two year working holiday visa. It was the best time of my life that I will do all over again in a heart beat.

I am a full-time student at Unisa (so I am moving Unisa with me) :) . I will be completing my degree in June 2009. YAY!!!

Hope to meet lots of new people on this forum.

Dedre' like wise, welcome to you.

I can recall doing the move over to Canada in 1999. It was only an 18 month wait and that was even to long for me. So I don't know if I would want the wait that is going on now. But to 'emigrate' TWICE! I don't know which would be the worst. Then again, I did it with a baby in tow. So I am glad that I did it before the second one arrived.

I am glad we did it when we did and that we did it at all! I miss my family terribly as we have never been back not even for a visit. But I will never consider moving back permanently. My children have to many opportunities here for us to even think of moving again.

So good luck with your 'double' move. And when you finally get here, (if you are local) then we can have a cup of java together and celebrate your wise move!

That is a date Adele. I am looking forward to it... one day...

I think I might be in your shoes one day with children. We want to start after I finish my studies and before I turn 35 (or by then). Needless to say, Canada might not happen before then, or during that time, as I am turning 33 this year! Best of all is, I might have twins (which is O.K. with me)... so I might need lots and lots of advice when reaching that stage. I know nothing about having a child... those poor twins! :P

Well, we did not got to Edenburgh at all. Just after (a week exactly) we applied for our permits for the UK, an employer in Canada, Calgary made us and offer. We did not refuse. So I am back and am in Canada! Here are some pictures:

Dedre, all the best for you and your family in Canada. I guess this SAEU Forum is "dead" now. Not many people on here, so we will have to frequent the other SA forums, which I do, I still have family and friends in SA.
